• The Saco is a natural environment & hazards exist.  Wear your PFD!

• Be alert for obstacles in the river. Pull out of the river and scout sections that cannot be seen well.

• Watch for and avoid strainers, (fallen trees) in the river.

• Know before you go. Check river and weather conditions. Be aware of changing river conditions.  

• Use caution approaching Swans Falls Dam from upriver loactions.  Take out on the river-right, well above the dam.

• Know where you are on the river and the quickest way to get to the next takeout.
